The Dessert Junkie offers a variety of America’s favorite desserts from cupcakes and bakery goods to ice cream and shaved ice to crepes and waffles.

Celebrity dessert stylist Alexis Streets, serves as the founder, of Basket Treats by Alexis Streets, LLC. The Dessert Junkie and Bougie Balloons. While being a stay at home mom, Alexis originally launched Basket Treats in 2009 as a customized gourmet basket service. Always having a love for both baking and interior design, Alexis decided to combine them both and expand Basket Treats into the realm of dessert table artistry. Since its expansion Basket Treats has become known for its signature over the top dessert displays. As a self-taught baker and artist, Alexis creates all of her recipes and usually designs on the spot.
Deciding to strengthen her presence in the events industry, Alexis rebranded Basket Treats as a full service event provider. Services added include Catering, Chef Services, Photography, Videography, Bartending, Event Planning and Wait Staffing. With the addition of these services Basket Treats has continued to thrive.
With a desire to expand, in 2017, Alexis decided to launch The Dessert Junkie, a mobile dessert truck designed to service patrons outside of the general vicinity of her brick and mortar bakery.
Ever the entrepreneur, in 2018 Alexis launched a new venture, Bougie Balloons to tap into the newly emerging trend of dramatic balloon displays. Bougie Balloons has taken off since its launch with clients like Microsoft, and Ulta Beauty as well as participation in New York Fashion Week.
Store Manager
Vickie Bell serves as the Store Manager at Basket Treats & The Dessert Junkie for the past 3 years with over 30 years of Business Management experience. Also, currently the owner of Bellavive Jewelry since 2013 providing authentic natural gemstones and fine jewelry.
Event Designer & Head Pastry Chef
Shavon Brown is a trailblazer in the fields of Accounting & Finance as well as Catering & Events Management with a proven ability to achieve results while delivering outstanding customer service.
In the Catering and Events Management arena, Shavon has served as Co-owner of Just Savvy Events a Maryland based company that offered a variety of catering & event planning/design services to the public. She currently serves as the owner of Pound Kaked, Basket Treats Event Designer and the head pastry chef of The Dessert Junkie.
Head Chef / Catering Services
Byron, HEAD CHEF, Chef Byron Landers cooks with passion and prides himself on his presentation, creativity, and making sure his food tastes good. The self-taught chef was raised in southeast Washington, D.C. where he attended public schools and played football. In 2000 Byron made the All-City Football team where he then received a full scholarship to Allen University where he played linebacker and safety. At Allen University, Byron majored in business marketing. He often watched his grandmother prepare dishes and she instilled the importance of fresh ingredients by making him a garden and picking vegetables straight out her garden in the backyard. Byron is the Head chef for The Dessert Junkies with a playboy personality Byron cooks up the heat in and out the kitchen with a fan base of female clients clamoring for his services.
Wedding Chef
With being Basket Treats by Alexis Streets top Premier Wedding Chef. Chef Vankline’s cuisine offerings towards providing her eager clientele with an innovative, modern twist on tradition, which hailed her as an in-demand private chef for corporate events and soirees for the influential members of New York City. Her cuisines spoke for themselves as her clientele represented Oscar & Grammy-winning artist Common, (Rapper/Actor); Arthur Sulzberger, (NY Times CEO); Steve Harvey (Steve Harvey Show) Stacy London, (TLC’s What Not to Wear); William & Park, and a Royal Family.
Chef VanKline continues to test her limits and explore her talents through television show appearances; contestant on ABC’s “The Taste”, The Food Network TV series “Beat Bobby Flay”, Real Housewives of Potomac (Season 5). With her grandmother’s spirit, Chef Vankline initiated a non-profit organization, C.H.E.F (Cook Healthy, Eat Fresh) Kids. C.H.E.F Kids’ mission is to empower, educate, and encourage youth to make healthier eating decisions while simultaneously impacting students reading and math proficiencies. C.H.E.F Kids is a curriculum-based program slated to impact students in the Prince George’s County, Maryland community
Lead Cake Designer
Cynthia is a self-starter who wasn’t afforded the opportunity to attend culinary school she began to seek her education in the workforce working at various bakeries within the Baltimore metropolitan area. She opened her own bakery after working hard and gaining enough experience she felt she has learned enough to start her own business.
In 2016 Cynthia joined the team at The Dessert Junkie. It wasn’t an easy “CAKE WALK”, she continues to operate her own bakery, all while assisting The Dessert Junkie. Cynthia has also appeared on national TV, Local News, and Magazines and often gives back to the community. Cynthia is described as sweet but will still give you a piece of her mind when she has too she a quiet storm in her own right.
Wedding Planner
Natalie Melton is a masterful event designer who sits at the creative helm of Event Design Group, her Washington Metro based firm known for its signature fusion of luxury and logistics in the wedding, corporate and social spheres.
We specialize in designing and creating events and products to fit your ideas and specifications as well as providing a multitude of event services to help with planning, hosting, and experiencing an event like no other. Owner/CEO, Alexis Streets, uses her design skills to customize and personalize each product, service, and event with care and expertise.
